Jimmy McNamara – Planning Director for the City of Chesapeake.  Holds a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning and a Post-Baccalaureate Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems from Virginia Commonwealth University.  In 2025 he was recognized as being the top 40 under 40 by Virginia Business for making a making waves in Virginia and also received the 2022 George R House, Jr. Award for Outstanding Service for a public administrator under the age of 40 and has demonstrated a record of outstanding performance in public service.  Under his guidance, the Virginia chapter of the American Planning Association awarded the Chesapeake Planning Department the 2025 Commonwealth Connector award for their Trails and Connectivity Plan, and the 2024 Holzheimer Economic Development award for their Industrial Waterfront Study.
